The Northwest Missouri School Counselors Association consists of professional members who are certified/licensed school counselors possessing unique qualifications and skills to address the academic, personal/social and career development needs of all students.
Northwest Missouri School Counselors Association includes the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray and Worth; with the exception of the school districts of Excelsior Springs, Kearney, Liberty, North Kansas City and Smithville in Clay County; Park Hill and Platte County R-III in Platte County, and Richmond in Ray County. At the annual fall district meeting, all members take part in a business meeting and professional development. Special guidance is also provided for new counselors in the district at the fall meeting. Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, two new counselors (less than 5 years experience) will be awarded scholarships to attend the Fall MSCA conference in November. In February, counselors treat their administrators to an informative breakfast. In March, the annual spring meeting is held in St. Joseph. At this meeting each year, a scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing a master's degree in School Counseling. NWMSCA also recognizes counselors and administrators for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of students. Each year, NWMSCA selects a charitable cause to support, and members donate money at the fall and spring meetings. Several district members serve on the Missouri School Counselors Association State Governing Board. NWMSCA plays an active role in shaping the future for school counselors in the State of Missouri. |
